Commission FAQ's
How do I earn a commission?
A commission is earned when someone makes a qualifying online purchase from one of our preferred partners through a registered members FavoriteThingz badge/widget.
PLEASE NOTE: Only merchants listed as preferred partners offer cash back.
Details and Restrictions:
Some merchants have special requirements to earn cash back. Some exclusions may apply based upon merchant policies.
Common problems for not receiving a commission:
Cookies allow FavoriteThingz to remember who you are to record your commission earnings. Cookies can be enabled by going on-line, then finding your internet options/settings. They are related to your privacy settings. You may change your overall setting to medium, or override cookie-handling for FavoriteThingz only. Bottom line: Your computer has to allow cookies/tracking systems in order for us to pay you a commission.
If the buyer chooses to use coupons, we cannot guarantee that you will be eligible to receive a commission back on those purchases.
We can't give a commission for the portion of a purchase that is made with gift cards or certificates. Nor can we give commission rewards for the purchase of gift certificates or gift cards.
Making a purchase in a window or browser session not linked from a registered members pick list can cause a problem. To earn a commission, the buyer needs to reach our preferred merchant directly through our registered members pick list. While shopping and doing research, a buyer may open another window for one of our merchants, but buying through that window will not earn a commission. Only the window opened through a pick list can do that! Also, if a buyer ends a browser session and returns straight to the merchant, you will not earn a commission. Finally, buyers need to be sure to place items in their cart after linking from a pick list, not before. Items in before the clicking through the link may not earn a commission.
Communicating with the merchant after your transaction can void a commission. A common action that interferes with earning a commission is, after making the eligible commission purchase, a buyer and the merchant communicate to change the order. This may be due to a backordered item or just a change you thought of after the initial order. In short, direct contacts with merchants will often-times "erase" any commissions paid to FavoriteThingz. And. if we don't get paid, then you don't get paid.
It is bad to have commissions redirected to another affiliate, because your commission is based on FavoriteThingz commission. If you have any of these on your computer, you are at risk for re-directed commissions: Weatherbug, Kazaa, Ebates, Livewire, Mypoints, plus any program that comes with a shopping toolbar. If you are a member of another CashBack site, they may have a shopping or "reminder" toolbar that you've downloaded. Examples of these are Moe Money, Savenow, and Remind u. To uninstall these, click on START, then CONTROL PANEL, then ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS, then highlight the offending program and click REMOVE. Re-start your computer.
What is required to earn a commission?
As long as an item is purchased through a link on a registered members FavoriteThingz badge/widget from one of our preferred merchants, a commission will be earned. Remember, it's a commission, so you will have to wait a little while for this to be reported to us from the merchant.
Does following these guidelines guarantee a successful commission?
Variables such as customer computer set-up and shopping habits, as well as electronic glitches, can impact success of tracking commissions.
How long will I have to wait for money to show in my Cash Back account?
While most merchants report in just a few days, others may take up to 4 weeks from the SHIPPING date. Nothing will show in your account until the merchant reports to us.
How long will I have to wait for my Cash Back to be available?
Depending on the merchant, 90 - 120 days. Why? Because merchants typically have 90 days to reverse a transaction for return purposes. During this time, your account totals will show under "Earned Commission". Some merchants take longer than others to pay us, and we can't pay you until they pay us! When the waiting is over, you will see the amount in your "Available Commission." You can then request payment.
How do I read the commission report?
- Earned Commission = Transaction was reported, but you need to wait the 91 (or 121) days until you can cash out.
- Available Commission = You can cash it out anytime.
How long will it take to pay me once I have requested payment?
Commission payments are typically processed daily.
Does this mean I'll get my payment within a day of requesting it?
Not necessarily. There are variables outside our processing that can cause delays. Depending on when your request is received, it may be a couple weeks for PayPal funds to be released. We do all we can to get your commission to you as soon as possible.
What is PayPal?
PayPal is an online payment solution with over 40 million members located in 38 countries. PayPal enables any business or individual with an email address to securely, easily and quickly send and receive payments online.
Why isn't a commission offered for all merchants?
Not offering cash back is most often due to a merchant's policy not to participate in such incentive programs, or their reporting procedures are not sufficient for the needs of our program.
